Projectors, inflatable and framed outdoor screens, and sound for company picnics, campus events, municipal movie series, and festivals.

At a glance
RentOurProjectors.com rents outdoor projection setups to businesses, schools, municipalities, community associations, and churches, including a projector, an inflatable or framed outdoor screen, and sound. For a 12 to 16 foot screen after dark, a projector of about 3,000 to 5,000 lumens works well, and the program should start after sunset.

Outdoor projection turns a park, campus quad, parking lot, or corporate campus lawn into a venue for an evening. Organizations use it for summer movie series, company picnics, team events, festival stages, and outreach nights. The essentials are a screen large enough for the crowd, a projector bright enough for that screen, sound that reaches the back row, and a plan for power, weather, and timing.
Inflatable screens are the most common outdoor choice because they set up quickly and stand on their own, but they need a blower running the whole time and secure anchoring with stakes or weights. Framed outdoor screens assemble from a rigid frame and a stretched surface, and they work well on hard surfaces or when you want rear projection to keep equipment out of the crowd. For a sharp picture on a larger screen, a 1080p or 4K projector makes a visible difference.
Sound is often the overlooked piece. Built-in projector speakers do not carry outdoors, so plan on powered speakers near the screen. For larger crowds spread across a field, a second pair farther back keeps dialogue and announcements clear without being too loud up front.

| Larger screens or dusk starts | Step up in brightness, often well beyond 5,000 lumens |
| Screen | Inflatable outdoor screen or framed outdoor screen |

| Start time | After sunset for the best picture |

Why it works
From a staff lawn gathering to a park field full of residents.
Powered speakers placed to cover a lawn, lot, or quad.
Anchoring, cable protection, and a plan for wind, dew, and rain.
Schedule a technician to set up at dusk and run the show.
Planning guide
Look up the sunset time for your date and plan to start the main program 20 to 30 minutes after it, once the sky is fully dark. Starting at dusk is possible but needs a brighter projector. Position the screen with the wind at its back if possible, away from streetlights and parking lot lights, and keep the projector on a stable table or stand behind the audience. If winds pick up, inflatable screens should come down, so name a person responsible for that call and plan a rain or wind date.
Map out power before the event. The projector, an inflatable screen's blower, and the speakers each need a grounded outlet. Long runs should use outdoor-rated cords with cables covered where people walk, and a generator should sit well away from the audience so its noise does not compete with the sound. Have a backup copy of your content on a second device and test playback with the projector before the crowd arrives.
For public showings of a film, the host organization is responsible for obtaining the right to show it publicly, usually through the film's licensing company. Rental of projection equipment does not include screening rights. When you request a quote, tell us the expected crowd size, the location and surface, available power, the planned start time, your content source, and whether you need permits or insurance certificates for a park or campus.
Availability and exact models vary. Your quote confirms the equipment, accessories, and delivery plan for your dates. Want to go deeper first? Read our projector planning guides or the projector rental FAQ.
A 12 to 16 foot screen fits many outdoor gatherings. Larger crowds spread across a field benefit from a bigger screen and a brighter projector. Our outdoor event projection guide walks through sizing.
The picture looks best after sunset. Starting at dusk is possible with a brighter projector, but the image will look washed out until the sky darkens.
The host organization is responsible for obtaining public performance rights for any film shown publicly. These are typically arranged through the film's licensing company, and they are not part of an equipment rental.
Inflatable screens need secure anchoring and should be taken down in strong wind. Framed screens are steadier on hard surfaces, but every outdoor setup needs a weather plan and a backup date.
